Gas Reservoir Characterisation

  • Leveraging gas reservoir parameters through gas domain modelling of gas content and permeability.

Gas reservoir characterisation specifically includes:

  • Geometry and properties of coal seams and interburden materials. Grid outputs from geological modelling packages, along with geophysical logs provide the basic properties of seam geometry, coal rank, type, grade, depth, and structure.
  • Gas content, composition, and desorption rate indices.
  • Gas sorption isotherms, which, together with gas content, pore pressure and reservoir temperature, are used to calculate gas saturation within the reservoir along with critical desorption pressure.
  • Permeability assessment using third-party well test results or results of GeoGAS history match modelling from surface-to-in-seam (SIS) wells, underground in-seam (UIS) boreholes and roadway emission data.
